Hello everyone,
This is the first of a series of blog posts that will keep you posted on what is happening at Northumbria in the social work programmes. I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the recent NESWA Experts by Experience conference at the Northern Design Centre. The NESWA group worked really hard to design and deliver the day and it was a huge success with some excellent feedback on the evaluation forms. Steve O’Driscoll and Stewart Chappell did an excellent job of running the day and we had some really productive conversations. A big area that we discussed on the day was payment and I am pleased to say that Steve and I are meeting with some of the key people from HR and finance soon to share what you told us and hopefully make some improvements to the way we do things here. I will also be sharing these with people from the other regional HEIs so that they can take on board and respond to what you told us on the day. As many of you know, Jack kindly made some incredible visual minutes for us on the day and I have shared these, along with some other images from the day, with this blog post. If anyone would like to talk further about anything we covered that day please do get in touch!
We are currently wrapping things up for the academic year and all of us here are busy doing lots of marking. We are really looking forward to seeing our next group of students graduate in July and to welcoming our new cohort in October. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in interviewing! Our MA admissions process is ongoing so if you would like to be involved with this then keep an eye on your emails or get in touch with me to let me know if you are not on the email list.
The www.socialworkwhisperer.com website has had a huge overhaul over the last few months and there is lots of new content available on there now. Please take a look and let me know what you think! As always, if you have any contributions that you would like me to share on the site they are very welcome – please send them over!
Finally, we have our next Educator by Experience commitee meeting taking place on the 13th May from 11.30am – 13.30 am. I will be emailing details about this via the contact list so please let me know if you need to be added to this. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting if they would like to do so. Please get in touch for more information about this if you have any questions.
I look forward to seeing you soon,
Sarah
